on Dec 9th, 2008Road Trip to VA Underway

At approximately 3:00 a.m. MST the Acoma Running Club started the long journey to Mechanicsville, Virginia from Acomita (see A on map below). Marion Salvador has been in contact to give updates of their trip. We will post the updates here as they become available.

  • 12/9 Tue. 9:30 a.m. – They just arrived in Amarillo, Texas (B). “Praise God”, Mare said, it is snowing but the driving conditions are good.
  • 12/9 Tue. 3:30 p.m – Just got a text from Mare. They are leaving Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (C), and it is rush hour and she said there were all kinds of accidents due to the weather, but assured us they were all okay. She said it was getting dark there and will text later when they arrive Nashville, TN. They are making good time.
  • 12/9 Tue. 5:30 p.m – Nearing Fort Smith, Arkansas (D). Weather is much better. She mentioned they stopped in Oklahoma and took the kids to Mickey D’s. Looks like they are too excited to be tired, great attitude I must say. All are doing fine.
  • 12/09 Tue. 8:00 p.m. – Pottsville, Arkansas (E), about 75 miles from Little Rock.
  • 12/10 Wed. 9:00 a.m. – They said they were in Bristol, VA (F), just past the state line. They drove all night. Everyone is doing fine! The kids were all still sleeping. When they wake up their breakfast will be granola bars and orange juice.
  • 12/11 Thu. 9:47 a.m. EST – They arrived in Mechanicsville, VA (G), last night around 7 p.m. They did great, they were excited, but they were tired. It was 64 degrees! They were going to go eat breakfast, then go do some practice runs at the track. Later today, they plan to head to Virginia Beach to go play in the water!
