History
Acoma Running Club has been an independent running club since 2004. It began at a community school in Acoma. Since the club started participating in track and cross country meets 4 years ago, the kids have been very successful and have competed in state and national events.

Purpose
The purpose of this running club is to keep kids engaged in athletics, to encourage physical fitness and promote a positive lifestyle. Our membership varies throughout the year and at season’s end we had about 50 runners. Our members consist of Acoma and Laguna runners as well as students from surrounding schools.

Track & Cross Country
The running season begins in the Spring around February or March. Track lasts through the summer and cross country begins in August. As a member club of the USA Track & Field Association, Region X in New Mexico, many Acoma Running Club members will compete in the State meet, Regional Meet and go on to compete at Nationals. Acoma Running Club has had many successful seasons as a team at the State and National level. Many individuals from the club have qualified to attend the National meets in both track and cross country.
